Client Letter - How We Spend Our Time

When we named our firm RFS Wealth Advisors, we were initially hesitant to use the word “wealth”.  The visceral reaction to the word wealth is money, but the meaning of wealth is actually much deeper. The word “wealth” originally stems from the words Weal (well being) and the (condition of).  Wealth is a condition of Well-Being.

With that, we wanted to share this piece that has absolutely nothing to do with finances or money and everything to do with our condition of well-being.  As we enter the holiday season and new year, we are reminded to adjust our priorities toward spending time with family, friends and loved ones. I came across this presentation by Sahil Bloom that puts context to the amount of time we have and how it is generally spent throughout our lives. I highly recommend looking through each slide individually – it is very impactful.

I encourage you to share this with EVERYONE you know…life is short and prioritizing your time accordingly is essential to YOUR definition of wealth.

  • Family time is limited: Cherish it

  • Friend time is limited: Prioritize real ones

  • Partner time is significant: Never settle

  • Children time is precious: Be present

  • Coworker time is significant: Find energy

  • Alone time is highest: Love yourself

We truly believe that wealth is not just about monetary possessions, but is an all encompassing approach to your life and is unique to each individual.  Wealth can be found in friendships, relationships, philanthropy, children and grandchildren, travel, etc.  Living a life that befits your holistic perspective of wealth is what makes life truly worth living.

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
